When the lights went down last Saturday night, Nicky's restaurant in Centerport came alive for a rockin' Halloween party that featured an array of colorful and creative costumes and three sets of mind-blowing music by Peter Mazzeo & The Hit Squad.

Mazzeo is not only a talented guitar player, singer and front man for the band, but the president of Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation, Inc., the new kid on the non-profit organization block.

Moonjumpers is holding its first fundraiser on Thursday, November 17 at Napper Tandy's in Northport at 7:30 p.m. Monies raised will go toward purchasing holiday toys for needy children in the community through the Family Service League and Tri-CYA. Tickets are available at the door for $40 and include an unlimited buffet, beer, wine and soft drinks and an incredible lineup of musicians.

Carol Offermann, who co-owns Nicky's with her husband, Toby decided she wanted help out the local community, too, so she teamed up with Moonjumpers and spearheaded the donation of 300 pounds of food and $350 in donations for The Refuge in East Northport.

"We never impose a cover charge for our Saturday night bands," Mrs. Offermann said. "So, we decided to put the word out that we would appreciate it if folks would bring non-perishable food items for The Refuge." Nicky's Halloween party drew a packed house and a mountain of food items, plus a pile of cash donations.
