Moonjumpers Revitalize Conklin House & Barn: Community Comes Together for a Cause
On Friday, June 7, 2024, the spirit of community and collaboration was on full display in Huntington Village as over 50 enthusiastic volunteers joined forces for the Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation, Inc.'s Annual Community Day Event. With the mission to rejuvenate the historic Conklin House & Barn, the event was a resounding success, exemplifying the power of collective effort and civic pride.
The Moonjumpers, known for their dedication to community improvement projects, partnered with esteemed corporate sponsors including National Grid, PSEGLI, Asplundh Construction, and Hov Bros Power Washing. Together, they addressed the external cosmetic needs of the facilities, ensuring the Huntington Historical Society's cherished property received the care it deserves.
Volunteers of all skill levels found their niche in various tasks ranging from painting, driveway replacement, and tree removal to flag pole repair and meticulous landscaping. It was heartwarming to see the teamwork and dedication as everyone pitched in to enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of the Conklin House & Barn.
Local elected officials graced the event, extending their gratitude to the volunteers for their hard work and commitment to improving Huntington Village. Their presence underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering community spirit and preserving the town's rich heritage.
As a 33-year employee of National Grid, I have witnessed firsthand our company's unwavering commitment to community investment. Today's event, organized by the Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation, Inc., is a testament to this commitment, directly supporting the Huntington Historical Society in its mission to safeguard the ongoing heritage of the Town of Huntington.
